Leveling
Award XP for activity and publish ranks and server leaderboards.
How it works
Leveling tracks eligible member activity, calculates levels, and exposes individual rank cards and a server leaderboard.
Before you start
- Decide where activity should count and whether any channels or roles should be excluded.
- Set XP pacing before announcing level-based rewards.
Configure it
- Open Leveling in the dashboard.
- Configure XP behavior, exclusions, and available reward settings.
- Save, generate eligible activity with a test account, then inspect /rank and /levels.
Eligible activity and anti-farming
- Only member-authored server messages participate; bot and webhook messages do not earn XP.
- A member can receive one XP award per minute, and duplicate delivery of the same Discord message is ignored.
- Very short, repetitive, numeric-only, or otherwise suspicious low-effort messages can be excluded automatically.
- Airwavy intentionally varies bounded XP awards so members are rewarded for healthy participation rather than an exact copy-and-paste formula.
Ranks and fair operation
- /rank shows an individual member's progress, while /levels and the dashboard leaderboard rank current recorded members by XP.
- Announce changes to multipliers, exclusions, or reward roles before applying them to an active community.
- Do not use XP rank as identity verification, a moderation score, or a substitute for staff judgement.
- If a level role is not granted, check Manage Roles, role hierarchy, and whether the configured reward exactly matches the newly reached level.
Expected result
- Eligible activity increases XP without rewarding every rapid message.
- /rank shows a member's progress and /levels shows the server leaderboard.
Common errors
A member is not gaining XP
Check channel and role exclusions, then allow for the anti-spam activity cooldown before sending another eligible message.
Saved changes do not take effect
Reload the feature page and confirm the saved values. Then verify that the selected Discord channel or role still exists and that Airwavy can access it.
Discord reports missing permissions
Check the permission on both the server role and the target channel. Channel overwrites and role hierarchy can deny an action even when the server-level permission is present.
