What Is a Starboard and Why Your Server Needs One

Good content in a busy server gets buried within minutes. A highlights channel solves that, but curating one by hand takes ongoing staff attention that most servers don't have to spare — a starboard automates the curation using the community's own reactions as the signal.

Discord has no native way to surface popular messages — pinning is manual, per-message, and staff-only. A starboard is entirely a bot feature.

Starboard watches eligible messages for star reactions and reposts qualifying content to a configured showcase channel — reading the current eligible reaction total rather than treating every reaction event as a separate permanent vote.

• Choose a reaction threshold from 1 through 100.
• Free servers use the standard star emoji and allow self-stars with the default presentation.
• Server Premium can choose a custom emoji, allow or block self-stars, and apply source-channel and member-role allowlists or blocklists, plus role-color-aware presentation.
• Crossing the threshold creates an entry; later reactions update its count, and falling below the threshold removes the entry.

1. Create a starboard destination channel.
2. Allow Airwavy to read message history in source channels and send embeds or attachments in the destination.
3. Open Starboard in the dashboard, choose the destination, reaction threshold, and any available channel restrictions.
4. Save, then add stars to a test message until it crosses the threshold.

• Setting the threshold too low, so the starboard channel fills with unremarkable content and loses its value.
• Setting it too high for a smaller server, so the channel sits empty and nobody sees it as worth aiming for.
• Deleting or heavily restricting an original message after it's starred, which can prevent Airwavy from keeping the showcase entry current.
• Not deciding on self-stars up front — allowing them can skew what gets featured toward whoever's most active, not necessarily what's actually best.
